Below are general questions we routinely receive from our patients and parents. Your child's health is important and we encourage you to contact your pediatrician's office if you have any concerns.

When do I need to make an appointment for my newborn?

It is best to have the first doctor appointment after the first week of life. Please contact our office to set up an appointment with a pediatrician.

Is it normal for a newborn baby to lose weight? If so, how much is too much?

After birth, it is expected for a newborn baby to lose some weight, as nearly all infants experience early weight loss in the first 5 to 7 days. 5% weight loss is considered normal for formula-fed babies, and 7 to 10% weight loss is normal for breast-fed babies. Most babies should regain this lost weight within 10 to 14 days of age.  If you have further concerns, you should contact your pediatrician's office.

What is the recommended vaccination schedule?

Our clinic generally follows the vaccination schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control. You can download a copy here.
