Senior Health Center
The Shannon Senior Health Center is a primary care practice specializing in service to the 65 plus and Medicare population. Unlike the typical primary care provider, the SHC also has a mission and is designed to provide psychological services as well as primary medical care.
A patient will, in most cases, initially access services and be seen at the Senior Health Center for an acute condition or complaint, such as flu symptoms, elevated blood pressure, a chest cold, etc. After addressing and treating the immediate need, the patient is scheduled for a comprehensive exam. This physical exam is completed by a physician and other members of the Senior Health Center multidisciplinary team. The objective is to manage multiple chronic disease conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease or arthritis, all of which are associated with the aging process.
Once a physical exam is completed, the Senior Health Center team determines how to place the patient into the established follow-up protocol. Patients may be seen annually or as frequently as every few weeks, depending on the level of care required.
We are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
The Senior Health Center will bill and file Medicare and/or your insurance company for you. However, since your laboratory work and x-ray work will be done at Shannon Medical Center, a separate bill will be filed from them to Medicare and/or your insurance and a separate statement will be sent to you. You may receive an additional statement from the radiologist as they read your x-ray films.
