Medical, Radiation & Surgical Cancer Treatments
Cancer is a disease where abnormal cells begin to grow uncontrollably—destroying healthy body tissue. This devastating condition affects nearly 2 million Americans every year. At Shannon, our experienced oncology team delivers trusted screenings, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services for our community of San Angelo and beyond.
Our Shannon Oncology Center is a state-of-the-art cancer care facility that employs a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including oncology physician experts, surgeons, certified oncology nurses, radiologists, technologists, and support staff. The American College of Surgeons has recognized our cancer program with the highest approval rating available. In addition to our comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, our facility has a fully staffed pharmacy, patient education room, a spacious waiting area, and a comfortable outpatient chemotherapy area. We understand that a cancer diagnosis affects more than just the affected area, which is why we also employ a licensed dietitian, dedicated patient navigator, and a social worker for truly individualized care.
We strive to utilize the latest chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical treatments available, including image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, robotic-assisted surgery, respiratory gating, and deep inspiration breath hold treatments. Your oncologist will work with you and the rest of your medical team to create a customized treatment plan, potentially combining methods to more accurately target cancerous cells while trying to maintain as much healthy tissue as possible.
