San Angelo Gynecologic Cancer Care
If cancerous cells are found anywhere in a woman’s reproductive system, it is referred to as gynecologic cancer. At Shannon Oncology Center, we deliver compassionate and comprehensive gynecologic cancer diagnostic, treatment, and recovery services in San Angelo. Our multidisciplinary team employs leading-edge technologies and treatment methods for every stage of cancer—customizing each service to your unique needs.
Types of gynecologic cancers we treat include:
- Cervical cancer
- Endometrial cancer
- Fallopian tube cancer
- Ovarian cancer
- Uterine sarcoma
- Vaginal cancer
- Vulvar cancer
- Peritoneal cancer
With approximately 100,000 women diagnosed with gynecologic cancer each year, it is important to not only understand your risk factors but also speak with your OBGYN or primary care physician about preventative measures, such as screenings and vaccines.
While all women are at risk of developing gynecologic cancer, certain factors can increase your risk, including family history of ovarian cancer, obesity, age, and HPV. This means that receiving the HPV vaccine can be a tool in reducing the risk of cervical cancer. Routine pap tests are one of the most valuable cervical cancer screening tools available, especially when combined with HPV testing. It is generally recommended to receive pap tests every three years. However, this can be adjusted depending on your risk factors.
If you are in need of an OBGYN, contact our trusted team today to schedule a well-woman evaluation or pap test. Call us at 325.747.2285 or 325.747.2270.
Trusted Gynecologic Oncology in San Angelo
From initial diagnosis to post-cancer care, our oncology professionals are by your side to create a custom treatment plan. In addition to pap tests, we utilize advanced imaging equipment, such as CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans, as well as colposcopy exams to diagnose the type and extent of gynecologic cancer. For further context, we might also recommend a biopsy. By removing a small tissue sample from the affected area, our specialists can more accurately determine your condition.
Our world-class oncology team will then work with you to develop a treatment plan that might implement one or more of our innovative methods. From minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgery to chemotherapy and radiation therapy, it is our goal to provide comprehensive care and support. That includes emotional support through our patient navigation services. With cutting-edge diagnosis and treatments options, Shannon has become a trusted name in gynecologic cancer care in San Angelo.
Call our Shannon Oncology Center at 325.747.2025 to schedule an appointment today.
